Evangelist- November ‘06 International Spotlight
Missionaries Claudio and Karina Castellis are rejoicing over the gift of a building for mission use from Paul and Stephanie Crib of Yorkshire, England. The transfer was recently completed and the building is already being put to good use.
The work in Paraguay has several components:
- Esperanza- Church of Hope.
The building where the church meets is actually a house, so they hope to remodel it with a new entrance, sanctuary, and patio to make it look more like a church. The cost estimate for this project is $8,500. - La Misión.
Miguel and Mercedes Capone lead this ministry to poor children. One day a week there is a children’s program with Bible teaching, snack, and a meal. Two days a week the Capones visit the children’s parents, giving spiritual assistance in the hope of establishing a church with these families. On Wednesdays, Karina gives sewing lessons and has Bible studies with the poor women of the neighborhood. - La Casa de Nuestro Senõr.
“The House of Our God” serves the poorest of the poor. This church reaches out to children of the neighborhood with meetings, snacks, and Sunday School. There are sewing machine lessons for the women. On Sundays, Claudio preaches.
The Castellis would like you to pray for Claudio as he is taking classes two days a week and has lots of homework. He needs strength to keep up with his studies and his regular ministry responsibilities.

Claudio & Karina Castellis lead our cooperative mission with the Brethren Church in Argentina. Claudio is the pastor of Iglesia de la Esperanza (Hope Church) in Asuncion, and also leads an outreach to the poorer river neighborhoods called La Mision (The Mission), which is now utilizing a new facility in that area as well.
