Evangelist- July ‘06 International Spotlight

Dear Brethren,

We greet you with our Lord`s love.

In Medellìn, we are still on the work`s extension. The Lord has been so good with us, that he allowed us to keep growing in the different Brethren congregations. At this moment we have three congregations and a new ministry place.

The main congregation is the church placed in Santa Maria neighborhood, where the attendance each week-end is about 300 people.

A very good evangelistic work is being developed. There are responsible brethren in charge in this area, who are evangelizing in the streets in a very effective way. The motto of this evangelistic effort is “power to change.â€? On Easter Holiday we had an special evangelistic activity where more than 40 people received Jesus Christ as Saviour. The Brethren in charge of this work are leaders formed in our own congregation with a firm evangelistic calling.

This congregation in Santa Maria is beginning a new ministry place in another neighborhood. This new work is in charge of leaders, and they are ministering to 100 children of low resources and their families, giving them assistance in different ways: spiritual, food, family assistance.

The STS (South American Theological Seminary) is important in the preparation of leadership. [Note: There is an STS extension at this main church in Medellin.] At this moment there is a group of more than 40 people who are studying theology at the STS. Many of these Brethren have a clear calling to pastoral ministry.

Another congregation is the Campo Valdes Church. This one is currently doing the foundation work for leadership development. The congregation of Campo Valdes has been helping with the growth of the Versalles church, which is the third church.

The Versalles Church is developing a children’s ministry through Compassion International. They are working with 240 kids, five days a week, giving them food, school assistance, spiritual teaching. These kids have very low material resources.

We want to share with you about the country situation. As many of you may know Colombia is being considered one of the most violent countries. It is with this reality that we have to live every day. Although the situation is negative, it makes the people more open to receive God`s message. We want to thank the Lord for his care on our behalf in these eight years that we are here, serving him.

We share with you some prayer requests:

  • For the growth and settlement (maturity) of the new works.
  • For the leaders who are studying.
  • For the economic resources to help the children.
  • For the needs to finish the building project in Santa María.
  • For the peace of the country.
  • For the pastoral families.

Believing that you there, like us here, are fulfilling the Lord`s will, we want to thank you for your support of the work and ministry here in this place, Colombia.

In our Lord`s love,
