PUERTO MALDONADO, Peru — For nine years, the local Brethren church in Puerto Maldonado has been a beacon of hope, sharing the Gospel and serving its neighbors. This month, the congregation had two massive reasons to celebrate: marking nearly a decade of ministry and officially dedicating their completed church building.

The journey to this moment was a true labor of love. Over the last two years, the congregation watched their prayers take physical shape. What started as a vision on paper became torn-up ground, which quickly turned into solid foundations, rising walls, windows, doors, and fully functioning bathrooms. Now, with the final floors beautifully laid, the church stands complete.

This building is much more than just concrete and glass; it is a permanent launchpad for community transformation. With a dedicated space for gathering, the church is better equipped to reach the surrounding neighborhoods, meet local needs, and share the message of Jesus.

This achievement was made possible through a faithful display of global partnership. The generosity of churches thousands of miles away—specifically Mount Olive Brethren Church and Smithville Brethren Church—alongside the Brethren Global Partners Ministry network, provided the vital support needed to cross the finish line.

Reflecting on the journey, Pastor Segundo shared a heartfelt message of gratitude:

“Thank God today we have celebrated our ninth anniversary. We also thank the Brethren for helping us in the construction of the church.”

As the church in Puerto Maldonado steps into its tenth year, the future looks bright. With a solid foundation beneath their feet and a completed roof over their heads, this enduring congregation is ready to continue taking the Gospel to their community for generations to come.
