American Brethren Connect with Philippine Global Partners
Brethren Church
August 18, 2025

Every so often, members of The Brethren Church, USA, have the incredible privilege of connecting with our Global Partners around the world. Sometimes these are unexpected encounters during a vacation, and sometimes they’re planned visits alongside business trips. But usually, these visits are the result of families or church groups intentionally planning a trip specifically to visit our brothers and sisters abroad to bless them and be blessed by them. Regardless of how these opportunities arise, we’re always thrilled when U.S. Brethren get to personally experience and share the powerful ways God is working in the hearts and lives of our partners across the world.

Recently, we had the joy of hearing from Brigette and Andrew Stump, friends from First Brethren Church of Nappanee, Indiana. They had a unique opportunity to visit our partners in the Philippines during a combined business and ministry trip. Brigette has graciously shared the inspiring story of their time with the Brethren community there.

It was a powerful blessing from God to visit Pastor Gary Castro; his passion for Jesus is undeniable. He is a man on fire for the Lord, faithfully making disciples and raising leaders through the G12 Jesus Model. His ministry reflects a deep commitment to advancing God’s Kingdom here on earth until the return of Jesus Christ.

Pastor Gary carries a heart like Jesus—completely compassionate for the lost and deeply moved by what breaks God’s heart. His passion for souls, love for people, and faithfulness to the call of discipleship inspire others to rise up and follow Jesus Christ with all their heart, soul, & mind. Gary is truly equipping and multiplying leaders & churches to carry the Gospel forward until the glorious return of Jesus Christ.

We visited three of the six Brethren Churches in the Philippines. We got to tour their newest church, Pandi Outreach, which was a very humbling experience.  The families there are facing significant economic hardship, with limited access to basic necessities.  The level of need is great, but the resilience of the people and their hope & love in Jesus Christ shine through their circumstances.

Pastor Gary Gastro asked us to give the Lord’s message on being “Fully Charged: Living with Spiritual Power,” with the focus on staying filled with the Holy Spirit daily. We were honored to do this together, all for the Glory of God.  We visited Jesus Our Firm Foundation Brethren Church in Bocaue and also JOFF Caypombo Brethren Church.  We were all reminded by the Lord that Jesus is the vine and we are the branches.  We must recognize that God is our trustworthy source, and apart from Him, we can do nothing.  We must stay connected to God daily, and it is not about perfection, but about faithfully showing up even when it is hard.  As we remain in Jesus, the Holy Spirit empowers us to bear fruit and shine His light to those around us.  Our spiritual growth is not just for ourselves but for others so that they may encounter Jesus through our lives.  Let’s stay rooted, stay willing, and continue building our relationship with Jesus Christ that draws others closer to Him & shines Jesus’ light to the world.

God bless,
