“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2
We invite our community to join us in focused prayer for Joseph Shultz, son of former Ashland Theological Seminary President Joe Shultz. Joseph and his wife, Aleta, have been a vital part of our “Brethren Abroad” family, serving faithfully as missionaries in Taiwan for 30 years. Their unique ministry and teaching have touched countless lives over three decades.
Recently, Joseph has faced a series of challenging medical issues, culminating in surgeries involving leg debridement and the removal of a lymph node. After a difficult period of pain following his return to the 5th floor, we have seen several answers to prayer. Joseph was able to eat and drink for the first time since the previous evening, finishing a full meal. Pain and diabetes medication have been administered, and Joseph is currently resting and feeling more comfortable.
We praise God for His presence “every step of the way” and ask for your prayers for continued strength for the days of recovery ahead, for rapid and complete healing of the surgical sites, for blood sugar levels to remain stable, and for Aleta and the family as they navigate the stresses of medical recovery far from their mission field.
Respectfully submitted,
