Back on the Road: Brethren Relief in Action in Spain

Just before Thanksgiving, the rhythm of ministry for our partners in Spain was suddenly interrupted. Cecilia Molina-Bruno, wife of David Molina and a vital part of our Spanish team, was involved in a serious car accident. While we praise God that Cecilia walked away without a single injury, her 2008 vehicle—essential for her daily commute to work—was not as fortunate.

The damage was extensive. With repair estimates exceeding $1,500 (nearly two months of salary) for an aging vehicle, Cecilia and her husband, David, faced a daunting crossroads. Without a car, Cecilia’s ability to reach her workplace was in jeopardy, threatening the family’s long-term sustainability and ministry focus.

Upon hearing of the need, the Brethren Relief Team moved swiftly. Recognizing that transportation is not a luxury but a critical tool for ministry, the team released $4,000 to help the family secure a reliable replacement.

We are thrilled to share that this past week, David drove home their “new” vehicle from Madrid: a 2007 Renault Mégane Scenic. This car represents more than just a way to get from point A to point B; it represents the provision of God through the generosity of His people.

“We are so deeply grateful for the help with such a critical piece of our ministry. Without this transportation, reaching work would have been nearly impossible. Thank you for standing with us and for your prayers during this stressful time. Sending hugs and blessings to our entire Brethren family!” – David and Cecilia Molina

The story in Spain is just one example of how Brethren Relief serves as a lifeline for our partners worldwide. From personal emergencies such as Cecilia’s accident to large-scale humanitarian crises, this fund enables us to respond with agility and compassion. In the last year alone, Brethren Relief has been on the front lines of:

  • National Emergencies: Providing critical aid following the devastating hurricanes that swept through Florida and North Carolina.
  • Global Crises: Supporting international partners facing sudden displacement, medical emergencies, or natural disasters.
  • Sustaining Ministry: Ensuring that local hurdles don’t stop the global work of the Gospel.

Disaster and emergency needs don’t keep a schedule. By giving to the Brethren Relief Fund, you ensure that when the next phone call comes—whether from a hurricane zone in the U.S. or a roadside in Spain—we are ready to say “Yes.”
