Brethren Church Kicks Off Search for Coordinator of Church Multiplication
Brethren Church
December 2, 2025

All the way back in 2010, I was tapped as a “transformational leader,” or “church planter” in The Brethren Church. In some ways, I believe those labels helped me navigate the subsequent 15 years of pastoring in ways that were more “me” than what I had previously seen as typical pastoral gifts. It also put me on a path that helped me grow comfortable with change and innovation, and allowed me to develop a unique perspective on the world around me.

Since that time, I’ve had a deep interest and soft heart for church planting. Never yet officially taking that role on myself, I still think, dream, pray, and study church multiplication. I, like many of you, am all too aware of how critical planting is to the sustainability of not just The Brethren ethos and identity, but also to bringing the transformative power of Christ to places and people who are without.

It is because of this keen awareness that we’re excited to announce that we’ll be hiring a Coordinator of Church Multiplication. We’ve been operating without anyone to really champion this area for too long. We’ve considered a variety of ways to respond, and are finally pushing the button. The good news is that in a few of our regions, a culture of church multiplication has been growing even without a unifying vision. By making additional human and financial resources available for this work, we will be able to develop greater clarity, coherence, and vision for how we “create innovative relational spaces” in our current environment. Along with the need to simply plant more churches, we also need to see a culture of replication grow in our existing communities.

This is one of two positions we’re hoping to hire in the first quarter of ’26. The Coordinator of Church Multiplication will be a 30-hour role who will work closely with the Coordinator of Vitality, Regional Resource Coordinators, and local church leaders to enhance the existing good works around the country and to begin turning over some unattended soil in other communities. We ask for your prayers as we begin this important discernment process. You’ll find the official job posting, a description, and a list of required documents to apply at brethrenchurch.org/careers.

Respectfully Submitted,
