The Office of Christian Ministry at Ashland University partnered with the Brethren Church to welcome first-year students during the opening weekend of the semester.  As part of orientation, both Five Stones Community Church and Park Street Brethren Church were highlighted as local congregations where incoming AU students are encouraged to worship and connect with community. It was a blessing to see first-year students visiting both churches as they begin a new semester at AU!

On Sunday, August 30th, Mike Cook and Ryan Smith from the Brethren National Office served as grill masters at Five Stones Community Church, which meets on campus at the Ashland University Jack and Deb Miller Chapel. Visiting and returning students enjoyed lunch, refreshments to-go, and gift bags prepared by members of the congregation.  A special thank you to Alex Hill, Rev. Amber LeMaster, Rev. Bill Ludwig, and Rev. Dustin LeMaster for showing up for AU students! 

On Monday, August 31st, the staff of Park Street Brethren Church welcomed AU students with a cookout and lawn games. Young Adult Pastor Tyler Henry connected students with Bible study leaders who serve and minister to AU students through the academic year. A special thank you to Tony Van Duyne, Tyler Henry, Sam Henry, Olivia Plank, Morgan Roupe, and Rev. Nate Bebout for showing up for AU students! 

I am grateful for our local Brethren churches and the volunteers who help to make Ashland University students feel at home at the start of their college journey!
