A Joyful Day at the River:  Mt Olive Celebrates First Online Community Baptisms

On Sunday, September 28, 2025, the waters of the river became a place of joy as Mt. Olive Brethren Church (McGaheysville, VA) celebrated the first baptisms from our online community.  Three individuals who have been faithfully worshiping with us through our online service took this meaningful step of faith, publicly declaring their commitment to Jesus Christ through baptism.

Though separated by distance, our brothers and sisters have become a vital part of the Mt. Olive family, joining weekly worship and growing alongside our congregation through digital fellowship.  Their baptisms remind us that God’s Spirit is not limited by screens or miles.  The same love and grace that fill our sanctuary flow through every home where His people gather in His name.

In addition to our online community members, one individual who attends service in person at Mt. Olive also entered the waters of baptism that day, making a public confession of faith before family and friends gathered at the riverbank.  Together, all four baptisms served as a powerful reminder that whether near or far, God continues to move in the hearts of His people. It was a moment of celebration and gratitude as the congregation, both in person and online, rejoiced together.

Pastor Fred Miller shared, “This day marks a beautiful milestone in our ministry.  It shows that even through technology, God is building His church and transforming lives.  What a blessing to witness His work reach beyond our walls.”

Mt. Olive continues to be thankful for the ways God is expanding the reach of the Gospel.  Whether in the pews or behind the screen, we remain one body, connected by faith, strengthened by love, and renewed by the waters of baptism.
