Raystown Celebrates Centennial with New Building

Now located at 129 Winterberry Lane just off Route 164 (Cove Mountain Road) in Liberty Township, the congregation formerly met at its old church located along the Raystown Branch of the Juniata River, also on Liberty Township. The congregation held its first service in its new facility (the former Safe Harbor House of Healing Church) on Nov. 7.

The congregation’s old facility was plagued by flooding from the Juniata River, and most recently, took on 6.5 feet of water in the wake of tropical storm Ida. In a process that can only be described as providential, the congregation purchased the new building and held its first service on November 7th, marking the move with a celebration of 100 years in ministry as well.

The full sanctuary was packed with mostly regular attenders and members, but also included Brethren Executive Director Steven Cole and Northeast Regional Resource Coordinator TJ McLaughlin.
