Sabbatical Resources.
The Barna Group recently presented alarming statistics concerning pastors in the United States.
According to their numbers, 42% of pastors have thought deeply about leaving their current church and the ministry. Over 50% are deeply discouraged spiritually, mentally, and emotionally, with many swiftly approaching burnout. Those leaving or thinking about leaving cite overwhelming job stress as the number one cause.
A Sabbatical presents a financial cost, both for the pastor and the congregation. Unfortunately, due to this cost, pastors have too often served for decades without this critical time to get their heads above water and breathe.
