The Southeast Region Men’s Retreat on September 19-20 was wonderful. We had 28 men worshipping God, working in small groups, and enjoying a relatively quiet 24 hours together. We had two churches represented, with 25 men from Canvas Community Church and two from The Gathering Winchester, and one attendee who was a friend of a friend.

The time was spent discussing being Fathered by God. Our large group sessions included the podcast by John Eldridge discussing some of the stages men go through in life: boyhood, warrior, and sage. There are several more stages, but we had limited time. After the large group session, the men broke up into small groups to dig deeper into their history and how God has brought them to this place.

The biggest ‘complaint’ was that there was not enough time in small groups. We plan to expand the next retreat to Friday through Sunday (more information to come). Thank you, Camp Bethel (Fincastle, VA), for sharing your wonderful facilities with us!
