 in 1940).

A missionary was serving in a remote part of Africa with her husband and children. She shared about a time when her daughters went swimming in a pond with some of the local school children. A few days later, one of the girls developed an eye infection that turned out to be parasitic and painful. Having no doctor or health facility nearby, the mother feared for her little girl. Doing all she knew to do and seeing the infection only become worse until it was threatening the vision of her daughter, the mother frantically wired her prayer warriors back in the United States and asked them to please pray. Prayers immediately went up on their behalf. Within a matter of hours, the girl’s eye began to heal. In a few days, it was completely better and her sight was restored. She tells of how the family actually ‘felt’ the power of all the prayers.

THIS is the power of prayer. I’m sure we’ve all heard similar stories from visiting missionaries. Many will tell you that they’d have given up their ministry positions long ago if it wasn’t for a praying people supporting them. Prayer is the least we can do for those working the mission fields, yet it is the most effective and the most powerful gift we can give to anyone.
