Tucson First Brethren Celebrates Retirement of Roger Stogsdill
A Legacy of Faith and a New Chapter: First Brethren Church Celebrates Pastor Roger Stogsdill's Retirement and Welcomes New Leadership
On Sunday, March 30th, a significant chapter closed and a new one began at First Brethren Church in Tucson, Arizona. Longtime pastor Roger Stogsdill, a beloved person in the congregation, delivered his final sermon after a remarkable 28 years of dedicated service at First Brethren. This milestone marked his official retirement from full-time ministry, a career that also encompassed impactful years of pastoring in Ohio and California.
The atmosphere in the sanctuary was deeply emotional as Pastor Roger stood before the congregation he had nurtured and guided for a quarter of a century. His voice, often filled with warmth and conviction, carried a poignant weight as he shared the enduring importance of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He eloquently reminded the congregation of the foundational truths of the Gospel, the simple yet profound message that has been the cornerstone of his ministry.
Throughout his message, Pastor Roger reflected on the journey they had shared, the challenges overcome, and the countless blessings experienced as a church family. His words resonated deeply with those who had been touched by his pastoral care, his insightful teachings, and his unwavering faith.
The culmination of the service saw a symbolic and moving transition of leadership. Pastor Roger invited Josh Buck, the newly appointed pastor of First Brethren Church, to come forward. In a powerful moment of unity and blessing, Roger, alongside Dan Acker, laid hands on Josh, offering a heartfelt prayer for wisdom, guidance, and strength as he embarks on this new chapter in the church's history. This act signified not just a changing of hands, but a continuation of the spiritual leadership that has been a hallmark of First Brethren.
The congregation will have the opportunity to fully celebrate and honor the extraordinary ministry of Roger and his wife, Kim, at a special celebration event scheduled for Saturday, June 7th. This gathering will undoubtedly be a time of joyful remembrance, heartfelt gratitude, and well-wishes for their retirement.
Roger Stogsdill's 28 years at First Brethren have been marked by faithful service, compassionate leadership, and a deep commitment to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His impact on the lives of countless individuals is immeasurable. The congregation now looks forward with anticipation to the leadership of Pastor Josh Buck, building upon the strong foundation laid by his predecessor.
