Brethren Partnership with MDS Continues to Flourish
In 2020, The Brethren Church announced a formal partnership with Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS). This was born of the recognition that The Brethren Church is not a relief organization, despite our members' deep desire to meaningfully contribute to domestic relief efforts. By partnering with a trusted, Anabaptist relief organization that effectively provides relief, our churches can participate in domestic relief efforts. These relief efforts include serving in food banks, rebuilding homes after natural disasters, providing emergency care for those affected by poverty and disaster, and so much more.
Steven Cole and Scott Soden recently participated in MDS' Annual Conference, held virtually. You can view that conference online here.
Mennonite Disaster Service works on relief throughout North America, and 2020 provided ample opportunity for service. MDS has provided a wonderful report outlining some of this work. These opportunities are available to Brethren Churches as well. If you would like to participate in a service or relief effort, please contact The Brethren Church National Office at 419-289-1708 for more information. We hope the report will be some inspiration to you and your congregation
