I want to share what our new regional fellowships with other Brethren Churches have meant to me and how it can edify and build up the Body in days/years to come. This is the powerful benefit of our recent reorganization into regions in The Brethren Church. With so many churches and the Body of Christ so scattered in this day and age, I realize this is not how it is supposed to be nor how Christ meant for it to be.
Our recent Sunday morning fellowship with Gretna Brethren in September of 2018 and February 2019 (at both their church in Bellfontaine and United Community Brethren Church in Dayton) was indeed a blessing. To be able to worship with and be fed the word of God with a fellow Brethren church was soup for the soul. Just the chance to be hosted, sit back and freely enjoy morning worship, be fed spiritually and then be fed a beautiful spread of real food was awesome!
Gretna Brethren Church has honestly been a great help to United Community Brethren Church. In 2017 they came out with a group of young people willing and ready to serve in any capacity. Gretna has also been actively sending groups to help with the completion of the Eastside project ( Transformed Life Center).
We as Christians have be willing to step outside the box, outside of ourselves and our comfort zones. When we don't, we miss out on the opportunity for spiritual growth (Acts 2:42; Hebrews 10:25). We miss learning the lesson of what Christ truly meant in His desire for us as Christians to worship together & receive the Word of God together. How else can we grow if we never build each other up, never encourage and receive encouragement, never give love and open ourselves up to receive love ( "stir up each other to be loving and do good works), or never serve one another and show kindness to one another?
We at UCBC appreciate the growing relationship between our churches and prayerfully look forward to a continued relationship between not only our churches but All churches.
True Christianity in the Body spurs us to have a desire to want to be around other Christians regularly just as you would family --- We are ALL a part of God's family and not distant relatives.
God is calling for UNITY in the body. Within our denomination as well as outside of it. Within our churches, four walls as well as outside of them. Within our congregations as well as outside of them.
Within our communities as well as outside of them.
Within ourselves as well as within others.
We are called to be united in purpose as well as on purpose!
This says it all: “Without the God-given habit of corporate worship and the God-given mandate of corporate accountability, we will not prove faithful over the long haul.” – Kevin DeYoung

Thank you so much for allowing me to share my perspective!
