A recent seminar held at Radial Church (North Canton, OH) resourced pastors and lay leaders on how to add financial coaching to their pastoral care. The seminar, led by our partners at Everence, provides a framework for leading congregants through financial situations similar to the way our leaders provide everyday pastoral care.
“Financial coaching is an important part of discipleship,” says Beryl Jantzi of Everence, who led the seminar. “Every life situation that happens to us has a financial implication. You have a child, you get married, a death in the family, medical issues come up, you lose a job…any pastoral care issue faced by individuals in our churches typically have a financial implication. If it’s a new situation, people need someone to talk to about that just as much as they need to talk about their emotions and fear and anxiety, because a lot of those issues are rooted in financial issues.”
You can view the entire seminar below, or better yet, reach out to your region’s Everence representative and schedule a training at your church!
While financial planning is helpful for all Christians, it is especially helpful for pastors who often face unique and challenging financial circumstances.
Through a partnership of The Brethren Church with Everence, Brethren pastors are eligible for a $1,000 subsidy toward the cost of a first-year Everence financial plan. The Pastoral Comprehensive Plan covers seven key areas; the Pastoral Select Plan addresses four of the seven areas.
The subsidy provides $1,000 for either plan. The Select Plan requires a $200 payment from the pastor, while the Comprehensive Plan requires a $500 payment.
The number of subsidies is limited, so apply for your subsidy now. See the attached information form for full details, or if you have questions, contact Ron Waters at 419-289-1708 extension 8 or Ron@brethrenchurch.org.
Note: A great gift for your pastor would be for the church to cover the pastor’s portion.
