Camp Peniel Celebrates New Baptisms
This past week, Camp Peniel (Meyersdale, Pennsylvania) celebrated the baptisms of several youths into the family of faith during their Junior Camp. What a joy to see campers coming to know Jesus, deepening their relationships with him, and following him in baptism! The Spirit is moving among our camps in powerful ways this summer. As Pastor Luke Dowdy says, "This may not be the Jordan River. This may not be Judea. But this is Camp Peniel and we've got some water and we've got some people who have made very important decisions to follow Jesus."
Pastor Luke reminds us that "Baptism is an important step in a Jesus follower's walk with him. it doesn't save us, it doesn't bring us closer to him. But we like to say that it is an outward expression of an inward change." Only Jesus saves, but baptism is an important next step in following him. As Jesus was baptized and commands us to be baptized as well, we praise him for the obedience of these brothers and sisters who follow him in baptism.
Please continue to support our Brethren camp ministries as they continue to serve our young people in the name of Jesus this summer. Hold them up in prayer as they minister to the needs of their campers, and support them with your time and your finances as well. Praise God for the powerful works he's doing in the lives of these campers!
