Pastor Jonathan Hedrick from the Mathias Brethren Church (Mathias, WV) celebrated his retirement on June 30, 2024, with a large attendance of members and friends after giving his final message, calling it his "retirement'' sermon. He referenced several bible passages that related saying farewell and blessings with continued prayers for his church family. Cake, ice cream and other treats were served following the worship service. His ministry started in 2008 with the Mathias Church where he served faithfully for 15 years at the Brethren Church.
Our members and church family will miss both Jonathan and Wilma as their journey begins to see the highways, byways, and beautiful land throughout the United States in their travel trailer. In this season of their life it is time to rest and enjoy life away from the hustle and bustle of 40+ hours in a work week. Jonathan's ministry has impacted many through his preaching but more than words he also put his hands and feet to help others in need. Wilma has also dedicated her life to ministry, serving as the adult Sunday School teacher for many years. Her faith in the Lord and knowledge of the scriptures has impacted many others to bring them along to know and love the Lord Jesus Christ more. Actions do speak louder than words as both of them can attest to living out who God has called them to be.
Their "new" life has just begun to wherever, whenever and to whomever the Spirit leads them on this journey. Their ministry will continue as they meet new faces and friends to show others the truth and gospel of Jesus Christ!! The Mathias Church Family has been greatly blessed to call both Jonathan and Wilma our brother and sister in Christ!
In His Service and on behalf of the congregation,
