Five Stones Community Church Celebrates Ordination of Shauna Rushing
On Sunday, May 22, the Five Stones Community Church gathered to celebrate the ordination as a Brethren Elder of Rev. Shauna Rushing. The day began with worship and excitement as Rev. Bill Ludwig shared a message about the power and importance of women in ministry. During the morning service, the congregation recognized Shauna and her family's contributions during her time at Five Stones. Pastor Bill then moved to identify several other women who have been incredibly instrumental in the ministry within and outside of the church community.
A celebration lunch followed the morning service in the basement of the campus chapel, creating space for a time of fellowship and laughter. The dinner also allowed time for others to travel from their congregations to be a part of the ordination service.
Shauna's ordination was an exciting time of music, scripture, and connection, filled with special guests. Shauna's parents were in attendance leading moments of worship for the gathering. Shauna asked for several of her seminary mentors to participate in the ceremony. These mentors included, among others, Brenda Colijn, John Shultz, Terry Wardle, Steven Cole, and John Swope. The ceremony closed as 15 elders laid hands on Shauna and her husband, Ray. It was a time of rejoicing, commissioning, and praying for their family, ministry, and call to "go and make disciples." A small reception followed the service.
What a great day for the Brethren Church, Five Stones Community Church, Rev. Shauna, and the kingdom
